The positions are part of the Social Psychology and Microsociology research
group in the School of Social Sciences.
Our research group focuses on the following aspects of social psychological and sociological research: social interactions (social relationships, couple relationships, digital interactions, including interactions with AI, online behavior), beliefs and worldviews (cynicism and trust, values and attitudes), psychological well-being and health (happiness and meaning in life, affective forecasting). The methodological focus is on the use of quantitative methods:
Online and laboratory experiments, cross-national survey research, longitudinal studies, dyadic and round-robin designs, Ecological Momentary Assessment and methods of computational social sciences (e.g. text analysis of social media posts). The positions offer the opportunity to develop and implement research projects on these or similar topics.
Your tasks include:
- Development and implementation of research projects, incl. preparation of publications in international peer-reviewed journals and presentations at (inter)national conferences
- Supporting the acquisition of third-party funding and the supervision of doctoral students
- Teaching seminars (in English or German) in the field of social psychology and fundamentals of academic research in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in psychology as well as in the Bachelor's degree program in sociology
- Supervising Bachelor's and Master's theses and research internships
Your profile:
- A completed university master's degree and a PhD in psychology or a related field
- Strong methodological and statistical skills (preferably in R) or a strong willingness to learn relevant methods and skills
- Experience in designing, conducting, and analyzing research studies, as well as publishing in international peer-reviewed journals
- A strong interest in psychological research questions and the ability to work independently
- Teaching experience (ideally, in the area of social psychology)
- Strong command of English
