PhD Position (75% E13, 3 years) in Social Cognition
The Chair of Social Cognition at the Faculty of Psychology is looking for a
research associate (m,f,x) for 3 years, 29.8725 hours per week, TVL E13
Our research group studies the cognitive foundations of attitude formation, judgment, and decision making.
The position is offered as part of a DFG-funded research project on attitude formation via evaluative conditioning. The goal of the project is to test and advance a theoretical framework on how attitudes form via evaluative conditioning in the presence of multiple stimuli in the environment. The addressed mechanisms combine basic cognitive principles of learning and memory to study attitude change in stimulus-rich environments. Thus, the following skills would also be desirable: basic proficiency in German; interest into cognitive, social, consumer, and/or personality psychology; a quantitative-experimental Master’s thesis in the domain of Social Cognition or Social Psychology; organizational skills, high motivation, ability to work in a team,
communication skills, reliability and initiative.

Your tasks:
- Designing, programming, and coordination of experiments
- Statistical analyses of collected data
- Manuscript writing
- Research presentations in the department and at conferences
- Guidance/training of research assistants
Your profile:
- A Master’s degree in Psychology is either obtained or close to being obtained
- Fluent in English
- Computer literacy, including competence in using R for statistical analysis; experience with linear mixed models
- Experience with conducting psychological experiments
