3-Year PhD or Postdoctoral Position in Social Psychology

The Social Psychology Group at the University of Osnabrück invites applications for a

PhD Student or Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/x)
Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in (TV-L E 13)

The position is full-time (100%) and fixed-term for three years, starting October 15, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

YOUR TASKS

  • Contribute to ongoing research projects in social psychology, with a focus on intergroup relations, political psychology, social inequality, social identity processes, collective action, migration, and racism
  • Develop and conduct your own research in social and political psychology
  • Teach social psychology (4 hours per week during the semester), including the supervision and grading of student work and exams
  • Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s theses
  • Contribute to administrative tasks within the group
  • Develop and pursue opportunities for individual or collaborative research funding

YOUR PROFILE

  • Master’s degree (for PhD applicants) or doctoral degree (for postdoctoral applicants) in social psychology or a related field
  • Excellent command of English; good German language skills are desirable, particularly for teaching and examination-related tasks
  • Strong interest in social psychology and socially or politically relevant topics
  • Experience in conducting empirical research, including relevant methodological and statistical skills
  • Very good knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Mplus)
  • For postdoctoral applicants: publications in international, peer-reviewed empirical journals in psychology
