We are seeking a highly motivated and talented candidate for a PhD position (m/f/div) as part of our research group on the neural basis of decision making in healthy and clinical populations (group leader: Prof. Dr. Dr. Alexander Soutschek). The group is located at the psychiatry department of the University Hospital Würzburg. The candidate will perform experimental research on the neural basis of impulsive decision making or mental effort with neural intervention techniques (brain stimulation or psychopharmacology) and
neuroimaging (EEG or fMRI).

Your tasks:

  • planning and conducting of empirical research on the neural basis of decision making (designing the experiment, data acquisition, analysis, and manuscript writing)
  • working collaboratively with other members of the group 
  • publishing of results in peer-reviewed journals
  • presenting the research results at local, national, and international meetings

Your profile:

  • master’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, or a related field
  • great interest in decision neuroscience research
  • ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment
  • experience in statistical analysis and basic programming skills in MATLAB or Python
  • an excellent command of English and a moderate command of German, or the willingness to learn German
  • ideally previous experience in neuroscientific methods (EEG, fMRI, TMS, tDCS, psychopharmacology) or computational modeling
