Ph.D. Position (2+2 years) at the MOVE Lab (JMU Würzburg)
We are seeking applicants for a PhD position within the Motivation and Emotion in Action Lab
(MovE) at the Department of Psychology, University of Würzburg (PI: Prof. Andreas Eder),
starting from 01 October 2022. The successful candidate will work closely with a research team
dedicated to the experimental study of motivational and emotional controls of human behavior,
using a broad variety of methods and measurement techniques (e.g., electromyography, virtual
reality motion capturing, reaction time measures). The candidate will conduct various experiments
and present the findings at international conferences and in peer-reviewed publications. He or she
will also gain experience with teaching university classes at undergraduate and graduate levels. A
PhD thesis should be completed on a topic related to motivation and/or emotion.
Requirements: Applicants must have a Master’s or equivalent degree in psychology, cognitive
neuroscience, or a related field and should have a high affinity with/good skills in programming,
conducting, and analyzing experimental studies. Applicants should have a strong dedication to a
scientific career. Good oral and written skills in English language are necessary. Knowledge of
German language is desirable, but can also be acquired after hiring.

graduate school. The PhD position is financed for 2 years, with the possibility of an extension for
an additional 2 years. Payment is according to 50% TV-L (presumably TVL 13, see online
calculator).
