Graduate Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Researcher

starting 15 October 2022 or later.

This is a part time position amounting to 0.75 full time equivalent based on a three-year
fixed-term contract. For postdoctoral researchers the position can be extended to a position amounting to 0.90 full-time equivalent.
You will work on a DFG-funded project that is part of the renowned Research Unit on
“Binding and Retrieval in Action Control” (https://www.brac-psy.de) which is located at seven different universities. You will be part of a team of more than 20 scientists, all of them investigating the processes underlying human action control. You will have the opportunity to participate in exchanges with the other labs involved. Our project at the University of Passau analyses the interplay between the perception of events and temporary episodic binding processes between stimuli and responses. Our main experimental approach will be based on reaction time measurements, but electrophysiological methods will also be used (in cooperation with the University of Dresden). We encourage you to pursue your doctoral studies in the field of cognitive psychology within the framework of the project. We also support postdoctoral researchers in their further qualification. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will also have a teaching obligation in the area of experimental research methods, amounting to 0.25 full-time equivalent.

Duties and responsibilities
• Plan, prepare and program experiments; coordinate data collection
• Analyse data and prepare publications
• Present findings of the project at German and international conferences
• Pursue your doctoral or postdoctoral studies
• For postdoctoral researchers: teach a course in experimental research methods (about one course per year)

Person specification
• A master’s degree or German ‘Diplom’ in Psychology or related fields
• For postdoctoral researchers: Doctoral degree or PhD in Psychology or related fields
• Very good English skills
• Strong interest in cognitive psychology
• Experience with conducting experiments and quantitative data analysis
• Programming skills (Python, R) as well as experience with electrophysiological research methods are an advantage, but not mandatory
