The Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) focuses on research on knowledge acquisition, knowledge

sharing and cooperation with digital media. The IWM is part of the Leibniz Association and is committed to

international standards of excellent science.

We are looking for a dedicated

Post-doctoral Researcher (100%)
starting as soon as possible, until end of April 2023

within the Junior Research Group Social Media. The research focus of this Junior Research Group is on the

use of social media for knowledge-related Internet usage, either in professional settings or in everyday life.

Current research of the group deals, for example, with the question of how the use of professional social

network sites leads to new ideas and informational benefits. Other topics are the smartphone use of

mothers for stress coping or informal learning with YouTube videos.

Your task will be to develop an independent research profile (preferably on the topic of knowledge-related

media use in the family), to publish at a high level and to attract competitive third-party funding. In

addition, you will be involved in the supervision of (doctoral) students and support the administrative

management of the junior research group.

Your profile:

▪ Experience in planning, running and analyzing empirical studies

▪ Research focus on effects of (knowledge-related) social media use, in particular in the family or in

informal settings

▪ Publications in international peer-reviewed journals

▪ Openness towards Open Science

▪ Experience in writing grant proposals

▪ Interest/expertise in computational methods (automated content analysis, big data) is an

asset

▪ Doctorate in psychology (media- , social- or organizational psychology) or communication science

▪ Very good command of English; knowledge of German is an asset
