in psychiatry, psychotherapy, child and adolescent psychiatry, psychosomatics and addiction medicine. For our department of Clinical
Psychology (Head: Prof. Dr. Peter Kirsch) we are searching for

Scientific staff ( Postdoc ) (m/w/d)
Full -time equivalent: 100 %
Start date: 01.05.2019 (later start negotiable), fixed -term position (36 month)

The Department of Clinical Psychology researches the causes, symptoms, implications and effective psychotherapeutic treatment
methods of psychological disorders with a biopsychological and neuroscientific focus. This position forms part of the department’s
DFG funded Emmy -Noether group “ Psychology and Neurobiology of Sleep and Memory ” led by Dr. Gordon Feld. The group aims to
establish whether there is a link between addiction and sleep, which is mediated by sleep’s role in memory processing. Please note
that the principles of Open Science and reproducibility are followed in the group . Candidates that do not fulfill all the expectations
below are invited to argue that they are nevertheless qualified. We will also consider tandem applications to job -share this position.

Your tasks
▪ Help build a multidisciplinary team researching sleep and its impact on addiction (using neuroscientific methods such as
MRI and EEG)
▪ Develop an online testing environment to acquire behavioural data from a representative German population sample
▪ Design behavioural tasks to assess sleep -dependent consolidation of reward information
▪ Prepare Preregistrations and/or Registered Reports
▪ Validate and analyse large representative datasets
▪ Prepare high quality English manuscripts
▪ Present results from your work on scientific meetings

Our expectations
▪ Excellent Master’s degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or similar
▪ An excellent PhD in a related field
▪ Interest in Open Science , New Statistics , reproducibility , cognitive neuroscience, especially sleep and memory research
▪ Excellent skills in statistical methods, especially analyzing large datasets
▪ Ideally, also well versed in machine learning techniques
▪ Excellent programming skills in at least one scientifically relevant language (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R or similar)
▪ Fluent in English and good in German (or the willingness and ability to acquire)
