The Leibniz -Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM; Knowledge Media Research Center) is an innovative research
institute investigating knowledge acquisition, knowledge exchange and collaboration via modern education
and communication media. IWM is part of the Le ibniz Association whose scientific achievement in a dynamic
research context is guided by and evaluated according to international standards.
Within the framework of the research alliance „digilog@bw - Digitalisierung im Dialog“ (running until April, 1 4,
2022) we are looking for a committed
R e s e a r c h e r ( p a r t -t i m e 65 %)
starting at the next possible date .
Your tasks are the conception, conduction and analysis of empirical studies on the topic „How do KI -based
voice assistants influences information search a nd evaluation? Additionally, the role of media competence
shall be studied and a measurement instrument shall be developed. The project is part of the research
alliance „digilog@bw - Digitalisierung im Dialog“ (Digitization in dialogue – project lead Unive rsity of
Mannheim; partners from humanities, social sciences, legal sciences, economics, media and communication
science, ethics and computer science). Goal of the research alliance is to identify and interdisciplinary
analyze the influence of the digitiza tion on humans and the resulting societal changes to create the basis for
shaping the digital change in a technically and positive way for the benefit of people. The focus is on
autonomy, knowledge and participation.
In the sphere of the described project the production of a doctorate is welcome and will be expressly
supported.
Your p rofil e:
▪ Above average degree (master, diploma or equivalent) in psychology, communication science or a related
discipline
▪ Strong interest in the consequences of the digitaliz ation, media competence and underlying processes
▪ Experience in the planning, conduction and analysis of empirical studies
▪ Very g ood command of English and preferable also German
▪ interest in interdisciplinary cooperation with cooperation partners
