To fulfill the ever-increasing research infrastructure needs expressed by researchers and psychology professionals, ZPID is in the process of a strategic expansion directed at meeting these needs to become psychology’s one-stop research service center. Current as well as future ZPID research areas and services are based on and guided by the values of open science and open innovation.

Join the growing ZPID team at the forefront of the open-science movement! Current opening:

Research Data Manager (m/f/d)
(salary group TV-L E 13, 50%, initially limited for 2 years)

Preferred start date is July 1, 2020 or later.

Duties and functions:
ZPID operates a discipline-specific research data center (RDC), which is accredited by RatSWD since 2010 (formerly known as PsychData). You will develop and implement a modernized concept in the spirit of FAIR data principles for the products and services of the RDC at ZPID in collaboration with the department head. After successful implementation of your concept, you will organize regular operation of the center and

ZPID operates PsychArchives, a repository for Digital Research Objects, which  includes many research data sets. You will design a system of quality indicators for research data reusability and “FAIRness” in PsychArchives and foster high-quality data submissions into PsychArchives by tightly integrating workflows, services and products from the RDC and PsychArchives.
You participate in the implementation of different access levels (e.g. public use and scientific use) to research data in PsychArchives and support integration of more sensitive, non-public data in PsychArchives. In the long term you conceptualize and implement a facility for legal “secure use” of protected personal data.
Complementary to your work in the RDC at ZPID, you will actively participate in the self-organization of research data centers, like RatSWD/KonsortSWD, and follow and shape relevant developments, e.g. the planned measure “Kompetenzbildung im
Forschungsdatenmanagement".
Regularly publishing results originating from your work in scientific journals is expected.

Your profile:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent or higher) in Psychology or other relevant discipline
  • Relevant experience with guiding and organizing psychological research data management
  • Interest in actively forming the future of psychological research data management, i.a. by committee activities, organisation of RDC operation at ZPID and horizontal integration of RDC products/services with other ZPID products/services
  • Independent working style
  • Project management skills
  • Good communication and team skills
  • Very good command of written and spoken German and English

  • Experience with the process of acquiring third-party funding in psychology
