The ECCS unit and the COSA institute at University of Luxembourg are seeking to appoint 1 position as PostDoc (100%) within the research group Computer-Based Assessment (Prof. Dr. Samuel Greiff; uni.lu/eccs/cba). The post will be offered on a 3-year fixed-term contract (aimed to be extended after the initial period), available to start as soon as possible. The research group Computer-Based Assessment aims at developing and validating innovative, computer-based assessment instruments for cross-curricular abilities (e.g., complex problem solving, collaboration, domain-specific problem solving). Specifically, a number of projects con-duct research on theoretical concepts of transversal competencies, on exploiting these compe-tencies, on developing a versatile delivery platform, and on comprehensive empirical validation and intervention studies across the entire life span. The research area is interdisciplinary locat-ed within the fields of Educational and Personality Psychology, applied Psychometrics, Cognitive Science, Differential Psychology, and Education. The overarching strategic goal is to evaluate the potential of assessing and utilizing new assessment procedures to measure learning and other abilities in individual, educational, and business settings. Within this very broad realm, the open positions will allow for developing own ideas and for establishing a distinct research profile. Responsibilities: • Self-contained research and development of an individual profile within the areas of con-tent of the research group • Independent supervision of Bachelor and Master theses as well as project leadership • Supporting the preparation of grant proposals as well as preparing own proposals • Publications (in English-speaking peer reviewed journals and at scientific conferences) • Developing and implementing innovative computer-based assessment instruments • Data analysis and application of methods on a high level • Establishing scientific partnerships and representing the research group externally • Responsibilities in academic self-government Profile: • Excellent PhD in Psychology, Education, Psychometrics, or a related field • Record of international publications and excellent English in speech and writing • Good knowledge of or at least interest in quantitative methods • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally • Ability to work independently, strong personal commitment, ability to work under pres-sure, teamwork & cooperation skills, administrative skills, creativity, determination • Last but not least enthusiasm about, above average commitment for, and enjoyment in research as well as the intention to pursue a career in academia We offer: • Participation in a young, committed, and dynamically developing team • Affiliation to a very active research group with a profile of diverse activities • Excellent research and funding conditions on a personal and a research level at an inter-national and multilingual university • Highly competitive salary • Grown connections to international large-scale assessments such as PISA and PIAAC as well as national assessments in Finland, Hungary, Luxembourg, and Germany • Good possibilities to establish an independent individual research profile and to pursue a habilitation (if wished) Please submit your application by 7th of March 2018 at http://emea3.mrted.ly/1qd83 Applications from female candidates are explicitly welcome.
