Our profile
In the framework of the interdisciplinary priority program, twenty research groups from different
German universities investigate human performance under multiple cognitive task requirements.
Integrating approaches and findings from cognitive psychology and movement science, we strive to
advance research on multitasking to provide a new integrative theoretical framework to account for
this fundamental aspect of human behavior.

Your Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated scientist and team player with
• a completed PhD with publ ication experience in scientific, peer -reviewed journals
• knowledge of and experience with experimental paradigms for examining cognitive co n-
trol/multitasking/action planning (e.g., dual task, task -switching)

• experience in project management and conceptuali zation of scientific communication and
events
• excellent knowledge of spoken and written English (working language of the priority pr o-
gram), good command of German is an asset
• communication skills and integrative mindset to foster successful research involv ing program
members at various levels of experience (e.g., PhD candidates, post -docs) as well as exte r-
nal (international) collaborators
Your Tasks
The Scientific Coordinator is responsible for the scientific supervision, organization, monitoring and
advan cement of collaborative research efforts within the priority program. In close cooperation with
the other members of the priority program’s Coordination Team (Iring Koch, Aachen, Andrea Kiesel,
Freiburg, and Hermann Müller, Gießen, the Scientific Coordinat or is responsible for
• facilitation of collaboration between involved research groups to conjointly advance the pr o-
gram’s scientific objectives, bridging paradigmatic approaches from different disciplines
(e.g., cognitive psychology and movement science)
• tracking the scientific progress within the priority program
• overseeing and coordinating the program’s Graduate Support Program for PhD candidates,
including the mentoring program, lab visits, review of proposals and allocation of funding for
joint projects of junior researchers from different research groups ( Research Excellence
Grant )
• monitoring, maintaining and adapting facilities for information exchange (e.g., update project
homepage and internal WIKI regarding project overviews, publications, events, re search
tools,…)
• conception, planning, organization and implementation of scientific events (summer schools,
workshops, symposia, and research meetings)
• foster exchange and research collaboration with international partners
• planning, conducting and publish ing research in the field of multitasking

the field.
The Scientific Coordinator will be a member of Irin g Koch’s (priority program’s 1 st speaker) research
team located at RWTH University Aachen, Aachen, Germany.
The successful candidate will be employed as a public servant.
The position is a fixed -term full -time position for three years, to be filled by Nove mber 1 st, 2018.
Applicants must have a doctorate/Ph.D. or equivalent.
The salary corresponds to level EG 13 TV -L.
