The Department of Psychology at the University of Tromsø (Norway) is seeking applications for a 4-year PhD Position (full time) beginning in Summer/Fall 2018.
The PhD candidate will work within the project "From Thought to Action - Basic Mechanisms of Human Action Control" supervised by Torsten Martiny-Huenger. The project resides at the cross section of self-regulation and action control and investigates the behavioral consequences of verbal action planning (e.g., if-then planning). The main focus is on the mechanisms of how verbally formulating an action plan affects downstream behavior by linking simulation theories of cognition (embodied cognition) to human action control theories. With regard to methodology, in the project we will mainly use behavioral, experimental studies in laboratory settings. Experience with one or more of the following techniques/methods will count in favor of the applicant: experiences with experimental research, programming skills in any language, and advanced statistical analysis (R or SPSS).
This position requires a Master’s degree or equivalent in psychology. The Master degree must be completed in summer 2018.
