The Environmental Health Psychology group at Eawag and the Consumer Decision and
Sustainable Behavior Lab at the University of Geneva invite applications for a

PhD position (100%, 4 years)
in the project ‘Make values matteR for EnVironmentAL health: A refinement of the valUE
approach in the environmental domain (REVALUE)’. Funded by the Swiss National Science
Foundation, REVALUE is led by Dr Nadja Contzen, Eawag, in close collaboration with Professor
Dr Tobias Brosch, University of Geneva. REVALUE aims at (a) refining the value typology in the
environmental domain and (b) developing and testing new value measures for environmental
health. The refined value approach for environmental health will (a) increase our understanding
of the factors underlying the environmentally friendly and healthy lifestyles that are needed to
address current key environmental health issues and (b) help to promote such lifestyles.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and independent person with a passion for
research. Candidates should hold a Masters Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of Psy-
chology or a related relevant discipline, or complete the degree in the spring semester of 2022.
Previous research experience relevant to REVALUE is desirable, specifically: a background in
environmental, health or social psychology, experience with different research designs, and
sound knowledge of quantitative research methods. Proficiency in both written and oral English
and preferably French, the ability to work independently, and skills in team work are essential.

The successful candidate will be actively involved in and independently contributing to all
phases of REVALUE, such as literature review, study design, data collection, data analysis,
scientific publications, and conference contributions. The start of the position is in April 2022 or
according to agreement. The position will be affiliated with the Environmental Health Psychol-
ogy group at Eawag, with research stays in the Consumer Decision and Sustainable Behavior
Lab at the University of Geneva. The PhD degree will be awarded by the University of Geneva.
