Lecturing Position "Quantitative Research Methods"

The Sigmund Freud University Berlin offers a lecturing position for the Master's programme in Clinical Psychology and Public Mental Health

for Quantitative Research Methods 1 (SS 2025) & Quantitative Research Methods 2 (WS 2025/26) (2 hours per week each)

The lecturer will be expected to support students to learn and to apply the foundations of statistical thinking in the context of community psychology and public mental health.  The lecturer should be prepared to introduce beginner and intermediate level statistical concepts, techniques, and software (e.g., R), and to actively support students’ development of critical statistical literacy. The course should be designed so that students learn to generate meaningful research questions, to consider the appropriateness of different quantitative tools and techniques for answering particular questions, to carry out a range of approaches to data analysis, and to develop credible interpretations of results.  The lecturer should also be prepared to critically explore different assumptions that inform quantitative methodologies and ethics in conducting research, particularly with vulnerable and/or marginalized communities.  Experience with community-based and/or participatory research will be considered an asset.

Part 1 of the course take places in Summer Semester 2025 (April-July) and Part 2 takes place in Winter Semester 2025/26 (October-February).  Courses are taught in-person on a weekly basis at the Berlin campus.  The language of instruction is English.
