The ECCS unit and the COSA institute at University of Luxembourg are seeking to appoint 1 position as PhD (100%) within the research group Computer-Based Assessment (Prof. Dr. Samuel Greiff; uni.lu/eccs/cba; facebook.com/21cba). The post will be offered on a 3-year fixed-term contract (aimed to be extended after the initial period), available to start at 1st of June 2018. The CBA research group aims at developing and validating innovative, computer-based assess-ment instruments for cross-curricular abilities (e.g., Complex Problem Solving, Collaboration, Domain-Specific Problem Solving). The open position can focus on a variety of topics including the training of 21st century sills, advancements of the understanding of problem solving, and the use of process data collected through computer-based assessment instruments from a content-related and a psychometric perspective. The position allows for developing own research inter-ests and to pursue a PhD in this area. The research group is interdisciplinary located within the fields of Educational and Personality Psychology, applied Psychometrics, Cognitive Science, Dif-ferential Psychology, Computer Science, and Education. Responsibilities: • Developing and implementing computer-based assessment instruments and training methods • Analyzing computer-generated log file data • Data analysis and psychometric scaling with IRT- and SEM-models • Self-contained research targeted at receiving a PhD in Psychology (cumulative; i.e. based on peer-reviewed publications) • National and international data collection and management at participating institutions • Communicating with partners and independent instruction of student assistants • Administrative responsibilities within the project and the research group • Publications (in English-speaking peer reviewed journals and at scientific conferences) Profile: • Excellent Masters degree (or equivalent) in Psychology or a related field • Good knowledge of and interest in quantitative methods and test theory • Willingness to travel internationally and excellent English in speech and writing.
