The Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID) and the Faculty I of Trier University, Department of Psychol-
ogy, are jointly offering the position of

Director (f/m/d) of the Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID)

in conjunction with

a Full Professor (f/m/d) in the Department of Psychology
at Trier University (salary grade W 3 LBesG)

to be filled at the earliest possible date.

The ZPID - a public institution of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate - is committed to the comprehensive,
sustainable, and scientifically grounded documentation of psychology information published through-
out the German-speaking countries as well as the conduct of research in psychology and the infor-
mation sciences and provides its services at the national and international levels. Its infrastructure ser-
vices support the entire scientific work process, from the generation of research questions and literature
research to the documentation of research activities and archiving of data to the publication of results,
thus facilitating the systematic use of open science practices. ZPID’s research activities are dedicated to
Big Data and the detection of trends in psychological research, research syntheses as well as research
literacy and user-friendly research infrastructures. Applicants should have proven international creden-
tials and demonstrate the ability to coordinate and lead the separate research units of ZPID, to represent
ZPID to the wider community, and to further its envisioned growth as a public open science institute for

Leibniz Association, ZPID receives joint funding from German federal and state agencies.

The Director, as executive head of ZPID, independently manages the institute in accordance with its
legal foundation, statutes, and the resolutions of the Governing Board. This position includes the obli-
gation to provide one course per semester (two hours per week) at Trier University. Responsibilities
include the further development of ZPID’s service and research profile, the overall accountability for the
program budget, the development and implementation of research and infrastructure projects with
national and international partner institutions, and the cooperation with other Leibniz Association mem-
ber institutes as well as with the funding agencies. The Director is the administrative supervisor of all
employees of the institute. A General Manager supports the Director in his or her administrative tasks.

Prerequisites include a psychology-oriented, internationally visible research profile and a comprehen-
sive understanding of psychology and its methodological diversity as well as the potential connectivity
of one's own research with the research topics of the institute. The candidate should also have experi-
ence in the conception and management of scientific research projects in psychology and in university
instruction, as well as leadership experience in managing staff. The applicant should demonstrate inter-

est in questions relating to knowledge transfer and in being involved in various committees of the Leib-
niz Association. A special interest in the possibilities of information technology and infrastructural sup-
port of psychological research and in the field of metascience is appreciated; links to health research
are of interest.

The appointment to this position will be made by Trier University and ZPID in a joint appointment pro-
cedure. The successful candidate will receive a lifetime civil servant position at Trier University. He or
she will granted leave from this position as university professor to be appointed as director of ZPID,
initially for a period of 5 years. The official duties of the W 3 professorship result from § 48 of the
Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act (HochSchG). The hiring requirements for the professorship
result from § 49 HochSchG, in particular educational aptitude and additional excellent scientific achieve-
ments have to be proven. The ability to offer courses in German is expected.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and Trier University advocate a concept of supervisory responsibility
that expects a strong faculty presence at the university campus. Severely disabled persons and persons
with equal status pursuant to Section 2 (3) of the German Social Code IX (SGB IX) will be given prefer-
