Department Head IT-Services / Software Development (m/f/d)
(salary group TV-L E15, full position, initially limited for 2 years)
Preferred start date is June 1st, 2022 or later.
Duties and functions:
ZPID’s IT-Services and Digital Research Development Services (DRDS) operate the IT infrastructure at ZPID and develop all software products and services offered by ZPID. More details concerning ZPID’s services and planned developments can be found at our website and in a roadmap at https://doi.org/10.23668/psycharchives.2415
The two groups have different objectives and operate as a bi-modal IT: IT-Services is mainly responsible for proper network, client and server operation. ZPID uses a combination of cloud and on-premise soft- and hardware. The majority of local server infrastructure is in the process of being outsourced to a Kubernetes-based operation model on Microsoft Azure. The work organization within this group follows an IT service management model (FitSM). Customer support is organized via service desk software (JIRA).
Digital Research Development Services (DRDS) supports software development for all departments of ZPID. Product Owners for all of ZPID’s products are situated in the different departments of ZPID and work with DRDS software engineering staff on the various products and services offered by ZPID. The interaction between Product Owners and developers is organized in a SCRUM-like fashion, although team size does not always allow to work with large development teams. The development teams often consist of employees with unlimited contracts for long term maintenance and fixed-term employees developing on new software. To ease interaction between different team members ZPID uses a homogenous PHP development stack based on the Symfony framework wherever sensibly possible.

You will work closely with all department heads and product owners at ZPID to establish their needs and organize development work around new and existing products and services. In total you will lead a team of currently 9 persons within the IT-Services and DRDS department.
