The Research Training Group (RTG) 2070 „Understanding Social Relationships“ and the Department “Biological Personality Psychology” (Prof. Dr. Lars Penke) at the Georg-August-University Göttingen offers a position for a
Ph.D. candidate (f/m)
beginning on October 1st, 2018. The salary is in accordance with the German public service salary scale (E13 TV-L) with 65% of the regular working hours (currently 25.87 hours per week) for up to three years.
The available position within the RTG will investigate hormone-related shifts in female personality processes, motivations and the dyadic empathic accuracy in romantic couples using a large, preregistered online diary study. The common aim of the RTG is to identify core principles explaining the development, maintenance and function of social relationships. Research is structured in the three domains “social signals”, “social monitoring” and “social coordination”, but specific emphasis will be laid upon the interplay between the domains.
Ideal candidates have a background in psychology (or related fields). A strong motivation to conduct research, the willingness to engage in scientific exchange with other disciplines and the ability to work independently are essential.
requirements:
- A good M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in psychology or similar fields
- Very good English skills (written and spoken)
- Good statistical and analytical abilities (e.g. multilevel modelling)
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: personality psychology, psychometrics, evolutionary psychology, behavioral endocrinology, personality and social relationships
- Interest in Open Science
